10th International Organ Composition Contest in Saarlouis-Lisdorf, Germany

After the resounding success of previous years, the Friends’ Association “Klingende Kirche” of the Catholic Parish of Saarlouis-Lisdorf – in co-operation with the City of Saarlouis and the Diocese of Trier – is organizing the International Organ Composition Contest in 2023 for the 10th time.

Eligible for entry in the contest are compositions for organ plus one or two freely selected solo instruments. These compositions must not have been published or premiered until the end of the competition.

The composition should be eight to ten minutes in length and be specifically arranged for the disposition of the 1987-built mechanical Mayer organ in the Catholic Parish Church of Saarlouis-Lisdorf.

A distinguished international jury chaired by Dr. Thomas Daniel Schlee (Vienna) will decide on the Grand Prize of the Saarlouis Organ Festival. It consists of the sum of 2,500 euros, a master recording of the work produced by Saarländischer Rundfunk, the Saarland broadcasting company, and a premiere performance featured in the Saarlouis Organ Festival 2023.

The jury can also award a second prize of 1,500 euros and a third prize of 750 euros.

The closing date for the submission of entries is March 31, 2023. The compositions must not have been published or premiered before the conclusion of the contest.

Anyone who has already been awarded a first prize in a previous contest held by the organizer is ineligible for participation.

The complete conditions for the “Organ Composition Contest” can be requested from the association “Klingende Kirche”, Weißdornflur 9, D-66740 Saarlouis. The conditions of participation are also available at the Internet addresses www.klingende-kirche.de and www.saarlouiser-orgeltage.de.
